Essential Maintenance Tips for Texturing Machines to Ensure Longevity and Quality

Proper maintenance of your texturing machine is critical for ensuring smooth operations and high-quality production. These machines, which operate on a multi-spindle continuous production system, require regular upkeep to maximize their lifespan and maintain product quality. Here’s an overview of essential maintenance practices that can help keep your machine running efficiently.

1. Routine Maintenance Checks

  • Transmission Parts: Regularly listen for unusual sounds from the transmission and check for vibrations or overheating in the bearings of the rollers, wire guides, and transmission components.
  • Timing Belt: Make sure the timing belt is aligned correctly and free from damage.
  • Rollers and Rotation: Ensure top rollers, false twisters, and bobbin holders rotate smoothly without any obstructions or wear.

2. Scheduled Repair and Maintenance

Minor Repairs (2-5 weeks):

  •  Clean dust and debris from various machine parts and remove any waste wire from rollers, friction components, and shafts.
  • Inspect the condition of the wire guides and other moving parts for any signs of damage.

Major Repairs (1-3 months):

  • Check the synchronous belt and pulleys for wear and tear.
  • Inspect the grooved cylinder, shuttle, and slider for potential damage and determine if replacements are necessary.
  • Review lubrication in critical areas such as the cold rail and toothed belt of the false twister.

3. Primary & Secondary Heater Cleaning

  • Primary Heater: Over time, spinning oil residues can accumulate and form dirt that affects the heating process. Regular cleaning is crucial to avoid a decrease in yarn quality. Clean the wire guide tubes every 2-3 months, based on the type of yarn and oil used.
  • Secondary Heater: Similar cleaning steps should be taken, being cautious to avoid damaging the wire guide tubes or any sensitive components.

4. Top Roller Maintenance

The first and second rollers should be polished every 1-3 months, while the three-roller top rollers should be polished approximately every 6 months.

5. Friction and False Twister Care

Clean any accumulated waste silk and inspect the friction disc for signs of wear or imbalance. The small bearings and toothed belts should also be checked for smooth operation. Replace any worn parts immediately.

6. Winding Device Adjustments

If winding issues like uneven bobbin formation or misaligned winding occur, check the winding device for faults, including the trajectory of the traversing wire guide.

7. Elastic Coupling Inspections

At each machine shutdown, inspect the elastic couplings for any signs of looseness or wear. Tighten or replace them as needed to ensure smooth operation.

8. Timing Belt Monitoring

Inspect the timing belt daily for signs of wear, looseness, or friction, and make adjustments as necessary to maintain optimal performance.

By regularly following these maintenance steps, you can significantly extend the life of your texturing machine and reduce the likelihood of costly repairs or downtime. Proper upkeep not only enhances the machine’s performance but also ensures that the quality of your DTY production remains consistent.

Procedure for Apron Washing

  • 1. Drafting aprons should be washed once in 6 months or 8 months depending upon the
type of fiber used and department condition.
  • 2. Top & Bottom aprons must be completely removed from the machine at the time of general cleaning.
  • 3. First soak the aprons in Luke warm water inside a washing machine for approx.10 Minutes with constant stirring.
  • 4. Drain the water completely and refill the washing machine chamber with mild detergent solution and allow the aprons to soak inside the chamber for 15 - 20 Minutes with constantly stir. Detergent solution can be prepared by adding Mild detergent (must be bleach free) in Luke warm water at 1 teaspoon detergent per 10 Litres of water.
  • 5. Drain the detergent solution completely form the chamber and refill with plain Luke warm water and constantly stir / agitate it in such a way that the aprons are cleaned of the remaining alkaline compounds completely!
  • 6. Drain the water and take out the aprons and dry it by spreading it under a fan inside the room. Depending on room temperature it takes 3 - 4 hrs for complete drying.

Note that aprons should not be dried under direct sunlight as it might accelerate ageing of rubber
compound resulting in premature cracks on apron surface!
